Rorate Mass

The Order's ‘Rorate Mass’ was held on Tuesday 12 December, within the second week of Advent, at the Church of the Assumption, Warwick Street, in the presence of the Grand Prior.

A ‘Rorate Mass’ is an Advent-tide votive Mass of Our Lady, traditionally celebrated by candlelight - the name comes from the first words of the Introit, “Rorate caeli de super” - “Drop down, ye heavens, from above”. Before Mass, celebrated by Fr Gary Dench, Monsignor Dr Michael Nasir Ali gave a spiritual conference. Mgr Nasir Ali, a distinguished theologian and commentator, was formerly Anglican bishop of Rochester and was received into the Church as a member of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham and ordained a priest in 2021. He was admitted as a conventual chaplain of the Order in June 2022.
