Annual Dames’ Retreat

Thirty Dames and lady Candidates for the Order have spent their annual Lenten retreat at Worth Abbey.

The retreat was led by Fr Stephen Morrison O.Praem., who guided us on the deeper spiritual meaning of the parables and how they are relevant to our lives today.  He showed us what the parables meant to those who first heard them over two thousand years ago in a Jewish context and what we can draw from them today by contemplating silence, contrition, forgiveness, suffering, courage and eternity.

He delighted us all by starting and finishing each talk with a varied mix of music from his portable ‘boom box’ which made us all smile.

Attendees joined the monks in their daily recitation of the Divine Office in the abbey church, from Matins to Compline, as well as attending daily Mass, Stations of the Cross, confessions and private prayer.

The Dames wish to thank Father Stephen, the monks and the staff at Worth for making our retreat such a special and necessary time away from our daily lives.
